A Meeting Place for Helpers
We're working to develop and share a vision
and processes for making choices to ensure survival
of the human family of the Planet Earth.
From our perspective, there's always been only two kinds of people -- those who care and those unable to care. This essay is for those who care. It is very important that we are aware of this: The universe we live in is stunningly dangerous. Beyond the everyday types of tragedies, such as natural disasters and diseases, the universe is planning events to kill billions of us; maybe all of us. The coming horrors are inevitable, we just don't know when. And because we're not preparing to cooperate and help each other, we will turn on each other like rabid dogs, making the calamity worse. In this area, and so many other areas, we need helpers.
Even those who try to help us fail as humans continue to refuse to see themselves as a human family. We spend much of our time being afraid of each other. Fear is rampant because we've evolved into a situation where so many attack each other in non-stop wars and violent crime, refuse to help when we can and waste limited labor and resources. We make terrible errors because our loyalty is to divisive groups. Further, some of the logic we uncontrollably pass from generation to generation is wrong. It's fatal eventually. Terrible moments are coming. Only humans can be kind and helpful. The universe is indifferent.
What to do? All over the globe, it's become obvious that humanity is choosing to use the processes of government to address the dangers of violence and neglect by our fellow humans as well as the threats caused by the universe. For a coordinated effort by the human family, nearly 200 nations must cooperate, and they're controlled by thug gangs, dictators, theocracies or by voting governments. Voting governments are new, imperfect and still subject to manipulation -- will the correct help come from processes that are not perfected?
The only tool of the institution of government is violence or the threat of violence -- that is what law is. Law tells you when some of your fellow humans have authorized violence by government. We attempt to control the violence government is authorized to use but can we truly limit violence to when it serves us? Will the freedom humans need to make life meaningful and safe be an inevitable victim of the processes of government? How do we ensure the needed exchange of information and ideas? Or protect minorities? We are responsible for all the hopes of the human family. We must do it right.
In history, only one tool has had the power to change the thinking of massive numbers of people -- that's a new vision. It must reveal that the critical choice all of us will make is to choose to cooperate. Unfortunately it takes a lifetime of searching for a person to figure out what's wrong. And that's too late. We must empower the young with a reliable and truthful vision early in their lives so they can expend their energies wisely, Or change will not occur. This essay is an investment in a new vision.
Reality requires nearly all our fellow humans to be very busy working in ways that make survival possible daily for all of us (agriculture, medical care, making products, parenting, etc.). Only a few of us can be in situations to evaluate where human efforts will lead us, to contribute knowledge that will guide us and to give warnings if necessary. We must become a human family.
